Job Description: General Assistant at Cash Build
About the Role:
As a General Assistant at Cash Build, you’ll play a key role in delivering outstanding customer service and ensuring the smooth operation of the store. Your duties will include managing inventory, maintaining attractive merchandise displays, and providing helpful assistance to customers to enhance their shopping experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Customer Service:
- Greeting Customers: Welcome every customer with a friendly and engaging demeanor. Make eye contact and offer a warm greeting to create a positive first impression.
- Assisting Customers: Actively listen to customers to understand their needs and provide accurate and helpful information about products. Assist customers in locating items and offer suggestions based on their needs.
- Handling Complaints: Address customer complaints and concerns promptly and professionally. Escalate complex issues to management if necessary, ensuring customer satisfaction.
- Product Recommendations: Proactively suggest additional or complementary products that could enhance the customer’s purchase. For instance, if a customer is buying paint, recommend related items like paint brushes or thinners.
- Stock and Merchandising:
- Inventory Management: Unload and organize new inventory on shelves, ensuring products are displayed neatly and logically. Keep track of stock levels and inform management when items need replenishment.
- Store Presentation: Maintain well-presented product displays by adjusting signage, pricing, and arranging merchandise attractively. Perform basic housekeeping tasks such as sweeping, dusting, and cleaning to ensure the store is always in top condition.
- Product Organization: Regularly check and adjust product displays to ensure they are organized and appealing, making it easier for customers to find what they need.
Requirements:
- Education & Experience: A Grade 12 education or equivalent with at least 1 year of relevant work experience in a retail or customer service environment.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal communication skills in English and the dominant local language to interact effectively with customers and team members.
- Mathematical Ability: Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations with accuracy to handle transactions and stock management.
- Flexibility: Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including shifts, weekends, and public holidays, to accommodate the store’s needs.
- Composure: Ability to remain calm, focused, and professional under pressure, especially during busy periods.
