Job Description
The successful candidate will play a key role in our bakery operations, ensuring that all health and safety protocols are strictly adhered to while producing a range of high-quality baked goods. You will be responsible for preparing, baking, and presenting various bread and pastries to meet the daily demand, all while maintaining strict hygiene and quality standards.
As part of a collaborative and dedicated team, the Baker will work closely with the Bakery Manager and other team members to meet production goals, manage stock levels, and ensure efficient bakery operations. The role also requires creativity and innovation, as you will have the opportunity to recommend new recipes and menu items to help keep our offerings fresh and exciting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Mixing and preparing dough and other ingredients according to production requirements.
- Shaping and crafting different types of pastries, bread, and other baked goods.
- Baking a wide variety of bread types, ensuring they are prepared to perfection.
- Recommending new recipes and product innovations to enhance our menu and attract more customers.
- Monitoring and adjusting oven temperatures and baking times to achieve optimal results.
- Tracking and managing food supplies, placing orders when necessary to ensure uninterrupted production.
- Minimizing ingredient wastage during the production process to optimize resource use.
- Ensuring the consistent quality of yeast-based products and other baked goods.
- Maintaining appropriate stock levels based on the production schedule and customer demands.
- Cleaning and maintaining all bakery equipment and facilities at the end of each shift to ensure a safe and hygienic environment.
- Following strict protocols to guarantee that all customer orders are fulfilled accurately and on time, meeting the highest quality standards.
Minimum Requirements:
- A Matric Certificate (advantageous but not required).
- A clear criminal record.
- At least 3 years of experience working in a bakery environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- A reliable team player who works well in a collaborative environment.
- A keen eye for detail and a passion for producing high-quality baked goods.
- Comprehensive knowledge of bakery operations, including hygiene and safety standards.
- Experience operating bakery equipment and ovens.
- Flexibility to work shifts, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
